Flying Dog Fish Bike

During my senior year at MIT, I got to be part of a really cool IAP (Independent Activities Period) seminar.  It was called "Print a working bicyle" (I think).  Anyways, it was led by an interesting, fun, brilliant guy named Saul Griffith.  I think it was the first time I had fun being an engineer!  I got to design and build my own bike.  We used Inventor, one of the many CAD programs available, to make our customized 2-D frames

We "printed" out the pieces to our frame using a water jet cutter.  Lastly, we assembled all the pieces, kinda like putting together a 3-D puzzle, and below was my final product.

What do you see when you look at my bike frame??  A flying dog fish?

The bike is a bit heavy, but fun to ride.  It is a single-speed cruiser made from polycarbonate / Lexan that can take a beating better than I can!
