• Grading System

Proposal of the term project must be submitted by February 17 for all the students registered ( that is both on-campus and off-campus students ).

Term project must be presented and submitted on the last day of the class, say April 13, for all the students.

Midterm examination is held on February 24 for on-campus students, and on March 6 for off-campus students.

• Prerequisites Needed

  Students in the course are assumed to know solid mechanics and Mechanical Design covered by, for example,

  Mechanics of Materials, F.P. Beer and E.R. Johnston, Jr., MaGraw Hill

  Mechanical Engineering Design, J.E. Shigley

  Mechanical Analysis and Design, Arthur H. Burr, Elsevier, New York, 1981

• No Required Text : Lecture notes will be available, while an extensive list of reading materials is provided. A set of reading materials will be reserved at the UM Media Union as well as at the hand of the course coordinators at GM sites.

will be utilized in this course. If you wish to use PC oriented public domain FEA software, you may use
